My paintings are figurative, generally inspired by the local environment and as such are not underpinned by any complex rationale. My belief is that the finest art stems from the strategic use of light and that even the most mundane subjects can spring to life when sympathetically illuminated.
My hope is not only to record a recognisable replication of a view but to make a connection with those who view the final image and by doing so raise their spirits and impact on their perception.
