When designing and sculpting animals and birds I tend to strip away the distraction of detail to create fluid designs. Burnishing to a smooth sensuous finish creates a further tactility that demands to be touched and enjoyed.
Motivated by nature’s spirals, my coiled vessels and wall plaques have evolved from designs inspired by ammonites and shells. Decorated by carving, imprinting, burnishing and oxides these sculptural pieces create dramatic art with smooth undulating form.
