My pieces to date are a mix of hand built, press mould, and thrown techniques. I use stoneware clay, incorporating slips and oxides into a scratched surface. Most include snippets of diary extracts I wrote during my travels or at times when the subtleties of an environment strike me. Whilst in Japan, I was deeply aware of the beauty of imperfection and the western obsession for the precise and perfect. I strive to create individual pieces that I hope embody their own character, giving an internal life of their own.
