My pieces to date are a mix of hand built, press mould, and thrown techniques. I use stoneware clay, incorporating slips and oxides into a scratched surface. Most include snippets of diary extracts I wrote during my travels or at times when the subtleties of an environment strikes me.

'My work reflects thoughts and emotions, or approaches subjects, in an abstract way, mainly through drawings. I am fascinated by faces, especially eyes, and so my work often includes facial features in abstract and creature-like forms. I use pen and ink to create intricate patterns of lines and shapes. I also combine drawing with painting and create mixed media work, by building up layers of materials, aiming to achieve a 3D effect.'

Each ceramic piece is individual and is wheel thrown in white stoneware. Surfaces are decorated with incised lines (scraffito) and these then cause the glazes I use to produce subtle variations in colour and texture.
